Five reasons why Kalki 2898 AD is highly-anticipated

As 2024 gears up for some of the most anticipated films in the history of cinema, one production stands out among the rest: the sci-fi thriller “Kalki 2898 AD,” produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. Scheduled for a theatrical release on May 9th, 2024, the film is poised to become the biggest cinematic event of the year.

Here are five reasons why this film comes with high expectations. Firstly, “Kalki 2898 AD” is directed by Nag Ashwin, renowned for his film Mahanati. Touted as a ‘history-making Indian sci-fi film,’ Kalki’s scale and ambition are evident from the outset.
Secondly, the film boasts an ensemble cast comprising some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.

From  Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan to Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, “Kalki 2898 AD” brings together a constellation of talent. It also features Disha Patani, Rana Daggupati, and Dulquer Salmaan.
Thirdly, the movie is produced by Vyjayanthi Films, renowned for its productions such as “Sita Raman” (2023), “Agni Parvatam” (1985), and “Indra” (2002). “Kalki 2898 AD” carries forward the legacy of this prestigious production house.

Fourthly, ’Kalki 2898 AD’’ made history by becoming the first Indian film to showcase at San Diego Comic-Con, one of the world’s most popular comic book and cultural conventions. And last but not the least,
This film blends Hindu mythology with dystopian science fiction, and explores themes of prophecy and salvation.

With a title referencing the Hindu prophecy of the tenth reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, Kalki, the film embodies the ‘chosen one’ trope characteristic of epic sci-fi sagas.
