In the run up to the forthcoming parliamentary polls, the farmers are staging protests seeking the fulfillment of their demands, adding to the woes of the ruling parties. In this row, a meeting of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Chadhuni faction), Khaps and other unions was held at Brahma Sarovar Park in Kurukshetra in Haryana here on February 18 and it was decided by the farmer organizations, BKU and Khapans to stay united extending support to the of the peasants’ agitation. Apart from this, a consensus could be reached that in case the issue does not get sorted out by the government, the BKU, Khaps along with other farmers’ associations will come up with a huge decision. In continuation to aforesaid, it is noteworthy that as the farmers’ march to Delhi started, the state chief of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Chadhuni Group) Gurnam Singh Chadhuni had initially refrained himself from the farmers’ movement 2.0 stating that the issue was not discussed with him. Further, observing new developments and increasing tussle between the agitating farmers and the police forces at Punjab and Haryana border, Chadhuni decided to come up with the protesting peasants. In the meeting, the farmers organizations and Khap Panchayats of Haryana also came in support of the farmers marching to Delhi. While reacting to the role of Khaps pertaining to the matter, BKU leader Chaduni said that all the organizations and Khaps who attended the meeting have decided to protest together against the government keeping an eye on the ongoing talks being held between farmer leaders and the ruling BJP-led Central government. After the meeting, Gurnam Singh Chaduni said that all the leaders, Khap Panchayats and organizations remaining present in the meeting have decided to intensify the movement.
