BMW India has unveiled first of thirteen new cars it plans to launch in the market this year. This new product is as exclusive as it gets, as it is the armored version of the flagship 7 series sedan from the brand. According to the German car maker, the new 7 Protection blends a protection concept with outstanding levels of ridecomfort and spaciousness, exceptionally advanced equipment featuresand the class-beating dynamic prowess all in one car.

Security
A highlight on the body 7 protection is that its structure made from armoured steel. Additional armouring for the underbody and roof and armouredglass makes the vehicle a tank on wheels. The new protection model offers customised safety from attacks
from firearms or explosives for at-risk individuals. It has been classifiedas offering class VR9 protection while the glass even protects against firefrom calibre 7.62x5Li R ammunition, a threat from the highest civilianresistance class. This occupants are also protected fromdrone attacks with explosive charges, for example, according to the brand. The sedan also gets a self-sealing fuel tank, to prevent any lossof fuel.

The 7 Protection runs on 4.4-litre eight-cylinder engine and uses 48V mild hybrid technology to optimise power delivery andefficiency. The system generates maximum output of 530 hpand peak torque of 750 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to100 kmphin 6.6 seconds and goes on to reach a top speed of210 kmph. The weight has gone down by about 200 kgs when compared to the predecessor which has improved the handling abilities of the vehicle, according to BMW.
The new 7 Series Protection is fitted with 20-inch light-alloywheels, while the PAX tyres have a runflat ringpositioned on the wheel rim which allows the car to continue its journeyat up to 80 kmph even in the event of a total loss of pressure. An electric heating function for both thewindscreen and the front sections of the side windows comes asstandard along with a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System.
