A quarterly review meeting of the Child Welfare Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and District Child Protection Unit Chairman Sushil Sarwan. The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials of the Child Welfare Committee to raid and eliminate the evils like child labour and children begging from the district.

Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Mamta Goyal gave detailed information to the Deputy Commissioner about the care and safety of children in three months. 43 cases were discussed in the meeting. The Chairperson said that out of 43 cases, there is no pending case. He told that the Child Welfare Committee works to help abandoned and orphan children. The Depauty Commissioner instructed the chairperson to form a committee and coordinate with the police and other departments to eradicate evils like child labor and begging from the district.

To prevent cases of child labor in the district, Sarwan directed the Child Welfare Committee to conduct surprise inspections at such places where children are being forced to do child labour. He directed that joint teams should be formed and raids should be conducted at various places to rescue children involved in child labor and strict action should be taken against those who force children into labour.

He directed to form a joint team and conduct raids with the police to arrest the gangs that force children to work and take strict action against them so that a strong message is sent to such people. Apart from this, raid the places where child labor as well as begging is taking place and make the children involved in it aware not to do so. He said that along with child labour, child bagging (begging by children) also comes under the category of crime.
