Lauding the interim budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as an exercise in fiscal prudence and pragmatism focused on nation-building, the Punjab State BJP President, Sunil Jakhar, on Thursday said that the trust of 140 crore Indians in PM Modi’s long-term vision of a resilient India is reflected in the document.
“By avoiding the strong political temptation of announcing doles in an election year, the Prime Minister has once again shown the courage of conviction in BJP’s unmatched record of inclusive development and growth in the last 10 years. Young India today understands the significance of the country’s rise in the last decade, which has only happened through the full realization of our capabilities,” Jakhar said, adding that every Indian today wants development to happen unhindered.
The opposition, fed on the revadi culture to influence voters, is naturally baffled and has nothing else than dejection and negativity to offer, the senior Punjab leader said during his interaction with the media at the BJP Office after joining a group of leaders into the BJP fold.
PM’s foresight has shown a way forward, and the Bhagwant Mann dispensation must learn from it and immediately stop splurging public funds on doles. Till December 2023, this state government has already taken over 60,000 Crores of debt in the name of so-called development on paper. Every day, Rs. 100 Crore is added to Punjab’s debt on average, Jakhar said, stressing that badlaav has been very painful for Punjab.
Welcoming the leaders into the party, Jakhar said several more leaders are waiting to join BJP in Punjab as they all are worried about the current state of our state under AAP. Incumbent Zila Parishad Vice-chairman Fazilka Kirna Rani, along with dozens of former Congress Sarpanches, were ushered into the party fold.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Interim Budget today, her sixth in a row – five annual Budgets and one interim — a feat achieved so far only by former Prime Minister Morarji Desai.
Responding to a media query, Jakhar underlined that as the matter is sub-judice, one must wait for the final order of the Hon’ble High Court. On being asked to respond to AAP’s decision to approach the SC, Jakhar said anyone who thinks he or she is aggrieved can knock on the doors of the Apex Court.“As a concerned Punjabi, I am more interested in knowing who would foot the bill of this petition in SC. Will the burden be borne by Punjab’s taxpayers like Kejriwal’s India tour in the Punjab government chopper?” Jakhar quipped. On Kejriwal evading questioning in Delhi Excise Policy fraud, Jakhar said no one can stay at large for long, and eventually, the law will catch up despite Vipassana or fake protests. Those self-styled saviors of democracy and the constitution at Ram Leela Maidan then are today manufacturing excuses when asked to appear for questioning by law officers, Jakhar said.
