Govt college students briefed on MOOC and NAAC process in one-day workshop

Govt college students briefed on MOOC and NAAC process in one-day workshop

Under the guidance of Principal Promila Malik and IQAC Coordinator Ravinder Kumar of Aruna Asaf Ali Post Graduate Government College, Kalka, a successful one-day workshop on MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) development and NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) accreditation process was organized. More than 100 participants from various colleges in Panchkula and Ambala districts took part in the workshop, which commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

Principal Promila Malik provided detailed information about the workshop, welcoming the chief guest, Deputy Director of Higher Education Department, Haryana, Indira Sharma. The first session featured Professor Dr. Tejendra Pal Singh, from the University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Professor Singh emphasized the importance of extensive MOOC development in the current scenario and discussed various phases of curriculum planning in MOOC. He shed light on the intricacies of video production in MOOC, structural aspects of the subject, preparation, and challenges involved. Professor Singh also highlighted the benefits of these programs for both students and educators, as well as funding agencies.

In the second session, keynote speaker Arun Joshi, retired Principal of Government College, Ambala Cantt, Haryana, addressed the audience on the national assessment and accreditation process. Joshi explained that the primary objective of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council is to assess and accredit higher education institutions, universities, colleges, or their departments. He emphasized the need for government colleges to strive for higher NAAC grades and discussed various challenges faced during the NAAC accreditation process. Joshi suggested that each college should develop its Management Information System (MIS) to organize its data efficiently.

He also discussed the importance of self-evaluation reports for institutions seeking accreditation, emphasizing the significance of a qualitative and quantitative matrix related to self-study reports. The workshop concluded with the national anthem.
The workshop provided valuable insights into the development of MOOCs and the intricacies of the NAAC accreditation process, fostering a deeper understanding among the participants. The event highlighted the crucial role of digitalization in education, especially in the current landscape of evolving educational processes.
