Delhi metro services to commence at 4 am on Republic Day

On the occasion of 75th Republic Day, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has anounced that the metro services will operate from 4 am on all line to help the citizens reach ‘Kartavya Path’ on time to witness the grand event on 6 January,, 2024.

As per the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), train services will operate with a 30-minute headway until 6 am on Republic Day, following which a regular timetable will resume for the rest of the day. Additionally, individuals holding valid e-invitation cards/e-tickets for the Republic Day ceremony will be issued coupons upon presenting government-issued photo ID cards at specified stations, facilitating exit from Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations to reach Kartavya Path. The same coupon will allow return journeys from these two stations exclusively, as per a statement from DMRC on Wednesday.

To ensure smooth navigation to their designated enclosures, passengers will receive regular announcements inside the trains, guiding them on deboarding at specific stations. The DMRC has heightened security checks at Metro stations, conducted by the Central Industrial Security Force, from January 19 to January 27, in line with the heightened security measures for Republic Day celebrations.

The Delhi Police, on January 19, imposed restrictions on the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms, including paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in the national capital. This restriction will be in effect for 29 days, from January 18 to February 15, unless withdrawn earlier.

In consideration of Republic Day celebrations, Delhi International Airport Limited announced that no flights will arrive or depart from Delhi Airport between 10:20 am and 12:45 pm from January 19 to January 26.
