Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu holding a road show. People welcomed him with showring flower petals. PM visited the Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple and did pooja.
PM Modi participated in a program at the temple where he came across several scholars reciting verses from the Kamba Ramayanam. He also took blessings from an elephant named ‘Andal’ in the temple premises.
Informing that the temple is one of the most ancient temple complex in India also has the ancient texts including the Purans and the Sangam era texts. It is lord Ranganatha Swamy, a reclining form of Bhagwaan Vishnu who is worshipped in the temple.
Informing that Vaishnava scriptures claim the connection between the idol worshipped in the temple and Ayodhya.
However, there are various important places in this temple – the famous Kamba Ramayanam was first presented publicly by the Tamil poet Kamban in a particular place in this complex.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last few days has been travelling to Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala ahead of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
