Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (Saturday) reached Tiruchirappalli. He was welcomed by a series of crowd along his route. The Prime Minister acknowledged the crowd, waving to them from his vehicle.

PM Modi is scheduled to visit Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple to offer prayers. This temple is dedicated to lord Sri Ranganathar. It is India’s largest temple compound and one of the world’s greatest religious complexes.

The temple priest specially greeted the Prime Minister with slogans written on the road in Sanskrit announcing his arrival. Bhattar said, “All devotees of India are very happy that our PM is visiting Srirangam. Lord Ranganatha is also happy about the PM’s visit. Our PM cares for everyone’s welfare so does Ranganatha, so it’s a blessed occasion for Srirangam.”

Meanwhile, sarees were presented to the PM on behalf of the Presiding Deity at Shri Ranganath Swamy temple which is to be taken to Ram Temple at Ayodhya.

It was the first time that a Prime Minister was visiting the temple as no PM was visiting the temple. “Before this, no Prime Minister has come to Srirangam, this is the first time a PM is visiting here. We all are very proud of his visit. I cannot express my happiness in words,” Bhattar said.

Prime Minister also spent time in listening to various scholars reciting verses from the Kamba Ramayanam in this temple.
