With no dedicated agency for door-to-door waste collection and processing, the Manesar Municipal Corporation (MCM) has assigned nodal officers to oversee cleanliness in 20 wards. Plot owners where waste is improperly dumped will receive notices and face penalties.
MCM commissioner Ashok Garg said that if waste is found dumped anywhere, the concerned nodal officer will be held responsible and an action will be taken against the
officer.
He directed the nodal officers to visit their respective areas twice a week to take stock of sanitation on the ground. The officers will have to inform the commissioner about their inspections. If they find garbage dumped in their areas, they will serve a notice to the sanitary inspectors of the area concerned. MCM’s previous contract with a private firm got over on July 13 after which no firm was hired for the doorstep waste collection.
The urban local bodies department recently gave approval of Rs 15.14 crore to float a tender for door-to-door waste collection, segregation and processing in Manesar.
“The tender process to hire an agency for door-to-door waste collection and processing will soon be completed and the system will be streamlined,” MCM commissioner said.
He has also directed officials to monitor the secondary waste collection points and ensure regular lifting of garbage.
