The Long Bar is nestled within the exquisite Raffles Udaipur and is an ode to the saga of a lovelorn couple back in the 1920s. A mix of old and new, plants and paintings, candles and mood lighting—the Long Bar offers a place that is both inviting and captivating. It looks and gleams sophistication, with a contemporary yet archaic cosy atmosphere.
The yellow structure with white clouds painted all over, the dim lighting, stylish decor, and attentive service adds to the overall charm of the restaurant and the courteous staff ensures a memorable and comfortable dining experience—the one we had in this modern-day palace in the City of Lakes!
Our culinary journey began with the Khow Suey, a unique and interactive DIY soup-making experience. We were presented with a selection of fresh ingredients and flavorful broths, allowing us to customise our own soup to our liking. It was a warm (hello winter chills!), fun, and a delicious way to kickstart our meal!
Next, we indulged in the Truffle Edamame Dimsums and Crystal Chicken Dumplings that were delicate and perfectly steamed—a testament to the chef’s expertise. The truffle-infused edamame dimsums were a delightful fusion of earthy flavours, while the crystal chicken dumplings were bursting with savoury goodness and a harmonious blend of textures.
For a touch of Asian-inspired cuisine, we savoured the Honey Chilli Lotus Stem and Chilli Mountain Chicken. The honey chilli lotus stem offered a delightful combination of sweet and spicy flavours, with the lotus stem being perfectly crispy. The Chilli Mountain Chicken, on the other hand, was a fiery and delectable dish with tender chicken coated in a flavorful sauce that left a lingering heat on the palate! To accompany our meal, we opted for the refreshing Peach Iced Tea which was a sweet and fruity refresher that perfectly complemented the spicy dishes followed by the whimsical Willy Wonka Hot Chocolate which was a decadent treat. Rich and velvety, it was a comforting indulgence that satisfied our sweet tooth before the main course!
For the main course, we dived into Burnt Garlic Rice with Thai Curries. The Green Thai Curry was a fragrant and aromatic dish, packed with a medley of vegetables and a creamy coconut-based curry. The Red Chicken Thai Curry, on the other hand, had a bold and robust flavour profile, with tender chicken and a spicy kick. Both curries were a delightful representation of authentic Thai cuisine.
To conclude our ‘long’ meal on a sweet note, we indulged in the Baked Cheesecake which had a velvety smooth texture and divine rich flavours. The crust added a delightful crunch, and the accompanying plum sauce enhanced the overall indulgence and it was the perfect ending to a remarkable dining experience.
Our dinner at Long Bar, Raffles Udaipur, was an extraordinary culinary journey that uplifted our senses after a tiring long day. The ambience added to the overall experience, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination for all foodies craving for some Asian, Thai, and Mediterranean picks in Udaipur.
