EPS may not attend Consecration Ceremony due to pain in leg

At an event on January 11 at Salem, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) stated that he had received an invitation for the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. The ceremony is scheduled for January 22.
When asked by the media whether he would attend the ceremony on January 22, EPS stated, “If there is an opportunity and health permits, I will participate. There is some pain in the leg; there is some difficulty.” The AIADMK leader reportedly had some problem in his leg which was limiting mobility. However, he said he would take a firm decision on this at a later date closer to January 22.
The former chief minister added that anyone from the AIADMK could take part in the Ram Mandir event and there was no restriction. EPS said that the AIADMK was a party that rises above caste and religion and anyone interested could attend the function.
It was in late 2023 that the AIADMK broke off its alliance with the BJP. EPS had stated then that this was the desire of the AIADMK cadres and not just his alone. The AIADMK is set to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and even the 2026 Assembly elections on its own.
However, there was news doing the rounds of ongoing talks of alliances of AIADMK with other parties in Tamil Nadu.
