The Gautam Buddha Nagar police arrested a 38-year-old woman and her three associates on Tuesday for allegedly operating a gang that engaged in honey-trapping men and extorting money by threatening to frame them in false cases.
The gang was exposed after a 40-year-old man, Vikram Singh Negi, filed a complaint at Surajpur police station, stating that he was threatened and coerced to pay Rs 1.63 lakh in cash and through Paytm, under the pretext of meeting a girl.
According to the police, the woman, a resident of Meerut, utilized her minor daughter and niece to target individuals for money, and her live-in partner posed as a lawyer.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Hirdesh Katheriya mentioned that Kavita, the woman involved, along with her partner Farooq, her daughter, niece, and other women, would befriend men through missed calls, messages, or social media.
When the victims arrived to meet the woman, they would be taken to a secluded place and coerced into paying money by threats of implicating them in false cases like sexual harassment or rape.
“They have been doing this work for about six months. During interrogation, it was revealed that in January last year, the woman had submitted a complaint under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act through her minor daughter.
