A one-day orientation program will be held for the newly elected members of the sixteenth Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. The inauguration of the orientation program will take place at 10:30 am on January 16. The chief guest for the event will be the Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will be the chief guest for the concluding ceremony scheduled in the evening. Both programs will be chaired by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Vasudev Devnani. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma will also be present at the ceremony.
Vasudev Devnani, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, stated that through this one-day orientation program, newly elected legislators of the sixteenth Legislative Assembly will be provided information on various subjects related to the proceedings and functioning of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly by subject matter experts.
The aim of this program is to facilitate the newly elected members in carrying out their parliamentary responsibilities, especially those who have been elected for the first time. Mahaveer Prasad Sharma, the Chief Secretary of the Legislative Assembly, mentioned that this one-day orientation program includes six sessions. Dr. C.P. Joshi, the former Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, will speak on the procedure and functioning of parliamentary committees and their execution in the previous Legislative Assembly. Parliamentary procedures and the conduct in the House, as well as the parliamentary traditions, will be discussed by the former leader of the opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Rajendra Rathore.
Jogaram Patel, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, will provide information about question time and zero hour. Rajya Sabha member Dhanshyam Tiwadi will provide information on parliamentary privileges and the legislative process.
Information on parliamentary proposals (motion proposals, special mention proposals, urgent matters of public importance, etc.) will be presented by Lok Sabha officials, and PRS Legislative Research experts will present on budget management and appropriation proposals.
