Ministers of the Punjab Cabinet will soon be seen traveling in brand-new vehicles as the Punjab government has reportedly sanctioned the purchase of new cars worth crores for its ministers. It is said that 10 ministers have been allotted new vehicles for the first time, including top models like Innova, Bolero, and Crysta.
The following ministers have been allocated new vehicles, according to sources: Laljit Singh Bhullar, Chetan Singh Jauda Majra, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair, Lal Chand Kataruchakka, Harbhajan Singh (ETO), Brahmsankar Jimpaa, Dr. Balbir Singh, Balkar Singh, and Gurmeet Singh Khudiyana. Sources suggest that ministers have been provided with Innovas as staff cars and Bolero cars for security staff.
It’s also been reported that Cabinet Ministers Baljit Kaur and Harpal Cheema were previously provided with Fortune cars, while Minister Anmol Gagan Maan uses her own private vehicle. The opposition in Punjab is raising various questions over the government’s expenditure on these crores worth of new acquisitions. However, the Punjab government asserts that the old vehicles have become considerably worn out, often breaking down on the roads, having covered distances of up to 4 lakh kilometers.
As a result, the old vehicles have now been allocated to Punjab officials, including those from Punjab Roadways’ general manager and officers from the transport department’s districts, which include Innovas and Gypsies. It’s worth noting that two years ago, a proposal was passed to provide ministers and legislators with new vehicles, which was rejected by CM Mann. With the deterioration of the old vehicles incurring significant expenses, the decision to acquire new vehicles has now been made.
