On February 22, engineering department employees plan to siege the Chandigarh Secretariat. A gate meeting was conducted in front of Rock Garden under the Chandigarh Engineering Department Employees and Workers Union banner.
Union President Veer Singh announced that UT Engineering Department employees would participate in the Chandigarh Secretariat siege organized by the Coordination Committee of Government and MC Employees and Workers UT Chandigarh on February 22.
Addressing the workers present, General Secretary of Coordination of Government and MC Employees and Workers UT Chandigarh, Rakesh Kumar, Chairman Anil Kumar, Electrical Workmen Union President Kishori Lal, and Union President Veer Singh demanded equal work and salary for outsourced workers. They also called for the implementation of the Payment of Bonus Act on outsourced workers, the formulation of a secure policy, and ensuring a contract period of at least two years.
Alongside Rakesh Kumar, other officials present at the meeting included Chairman Anil Kumar, Union President Veer Singh, Electrical Workman Union President Kishori Lal, Varinder Bisht, Sukhwinder Singh, Road Union President Rohit Kumar, Raju, and President of Jan Suvidha Toilet Safai Sevak Union. Ashok Beniwal, Suresh Bagri Lake Sports Club Complex Workers Union President Ajeb Singh, and Gurmail Singh also addressed the gathering.
