Congress Secretary submits memorandum on Kalka school’s condition

Shivalik Vikas Manch State President and former Haryana Congress State Secretary, Advocate Vijay Bansal, accused the government of discriminating against the Kalka area. Bansal claimed that despite numerous development claims by the BJP-JJP coalition government, government schools in Kalka, Pinjore, and Kalka assembly constituencies lack rooms, teaching staff, and basic facilities, leaving students as victims of political neglect.
Expressing concern over the challenges faced by students in government schools due to inadequate facilities, Advocate Vijay Bansal submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, Education Minister, and higher officials of the Secondary Education Department. The memorandum highlighted issues such as a lack of rooms, drinking water, and the urgent need for teachers and additional staff in all schools.
Advocate Vijay Bansal emphasized the critical situation in the Government Senior Secondary School in Kalka, where approximately 2500 students are studying. The shortage of classrooms has led to students being divided into three different shifts, creating challenges, especially for those attending the evening shift. The inadequate supply of government-provided water necessitates additional water tankers. Furthermore, the school faces a severe staff shortage, lacking essential roles such as sweepers, peons, clerks, and watchmen. Students are compelled to clean school premises, including rooms and toilets. Bansal urged the government to construct rooms on the available land behind the Kalka School to accommodate all students efficiently.
Bansal also drew attention to the deplorable condition of the Government Senior Secondary School in the Municipal Council village Basaula. The school’s aging rooms, with leaking roofs and damaged plaster, have not been officially condemned by the Administration and Education Department.
Consequently, approval for new rooms remains pending. Children in class 5 are compelled to sit in open areas, verandahs, or under trees due to the unsafe condition of existing rooms. Basola School lacks science and language laboratories, and crucial positions such as watchman, lab attendant, and gardener remain vacant. Despite children from over a dozen nearby villages attending Basola School, the government has not addressed these deficiencies.
Vijay Bansal emphasized that schools in Rajipur and Village Beed Ghaggar (Chandimandir) Senior Secondary School face similar challenges, calling for the construction of additional rooms. Additionally, he highlighted the plight of many schools operating without buildings in the Morni block of the Kalka area and other remote regions.
While the school staff has repeatedly informed higher authorities of these issues through correspondence, no action has been taken. Bansal lamented the lack of concern from the government and administration for the education of children in rural areas.
He called for immediate action, including the construction of rooms, the appointment of staff, and the provision of other basic facilities in all schools in the Morni block, including Kalka Senior Secondary School, Basola Senior Secondary School, Raipur, and Beed Ghaggar.
