Honours for over 125 female child workers in Bal Bhawan crèches

More than 125 female child workers and helpers, employed in 56 crèches under the Indian Council for Child Welfare (Bal Bhawan), were acknowledged for their service during November-December 2023. The Honorary Secretary and Director of the Social Welfare Department honored them for their dedication.

However, a 31-member delegation from 18 departments associated with the federation jointly visited the office of the Director of the Social Welfare Department to address the issue of delayed salary payments. In the Director’s absence, they submitted a memorandum to the personal assistant and promptly issued a letter to the Director, highlighting the non-payment of salaries to the crèche workers.

The Federation of UT Employees and Workers, represented by General Secretary Gopal Dutt Joshi, President Raghbir Chand, Senior Vice President Rajendra Katoch, and others, expressed concern in the memorandum.

Despite the Council having substantial funds, over 125 women workers, who care for children for long hours, have been asked to close the crèche system without receiving salaries for the last two months. The delegation emphasized that this move is an injustice to these women who earn minimum wages.

The Federation declared that if salaries are not paid and funds are misappropriated, a joint memorandum will be submitted to the Head of the institution and the Advisor to the Administrator on January 5, 2024.

If the issue persists, protest demonstrations outside the Director’s office will be organized, and work in all departments will be boycotted, holding the administration responsible for any inconvenience caused to the general public.
