Srinagar: Rains and chill, many people came out to vote in Kashmir valley on Monday during the fourth phase of DDC elections. As a precautionary measure, 2G internet services were snapped in South Kashmir as authorities said that they did so after consultations and ground reports.

For the 34 segments of DDC seats, 17 each in Kashmir and Jammu divisions, the administration put in place all the arrangements including additional security measures in South Kashmir. State Election Commissioner K.K. Sharma said, “The fourth phase of the maiden DDC election in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded a turnout of 50.08%.” He added, “Kashmir division recorded 31.95% turnout, accounting for 11,9,733 votes, while in Jammu division a total of 24,4,794 votes accounting for 69.31% tur
