Regarding the Lawrence Bishnoi jail interview case, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jail appeared in the High Court today, presenting the investigation report. The revelation challenges the initial narrative surrounding the interview.
According to ADGP Jail, the interview did not occur within the confines of a Punjab jail. He informed the court that at the time of the alleged interview, Lawrence Bishnoi was not incarcerated in a Punjab jail but was, in fact, lodged in a prison in Rajasthan. The government has emphatically asserted that any interview with Bishnoi would have taken place in Rajasthan.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) assigned to the case found no evidence supporting the occurrence of the interview within Punjab. The High Court expressed dissatisfaction, questioning why, after eight months, it is being revealed that the interview did not transpire in a Punjab jail. The court sought clarification on the specific location and timing of the interview, prompting the ADGP to suggest that it likely took place in a jail in Rajasthan.
It is noteworthy that the ADGP Jail of Punjab was summoned to appear in the High Court for this matter. In the previous hearing, the Punjab government filed an affidavit, which the High Court found unsatisfactory. The inquiry committee has requested additional time to thoroughly investigate the Lawrence Bishnoi interview case and prepare a comprehensive report.
