The Congress Alakaman has instructed the state unit to be prepared to contest on all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, according to the state unit president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.
He further stated that there have been no indications from the Congress Alakaman about the possibility of forming an alliance with any party for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.Warring also mentioned that if the late singer Sidhu Moosewala’s father, Balakaur Singh, expresses interest in contesting the elections next year, the party would welcome him.
Addressing questions about the possibility of an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by stating, “So far, the high command has sent a message that we should be ready to contest on all 13 seats.” He mentioned that the party leadership has sought information regarding potential candidates while considering caste representation and representatives from all communities who can participate in the elections.
“I want to say that if any message comes, it will be that I am the PPCC president. So far, no message has been given about whether we should contest together or form an alliance,” Warring said.
Warring’s statement is crucial as several members of the inclusive national development coalition (India) bloc in India are emphasizing quick decisions on the distribution of seats in various states so that candidates have enough time for election campaigning and assessing the situation on the ground.
Congress leaders in Punjab had previously expressed strong reservations against forming any alliance with AAP for the upcoming general elections.
