The Delhi Police foiled a planned shootout to kill a rival gangster at the Dwarka Court complex on Monday. Based on secret information, the police have arrested accused Ankit (26) and recovered two pistols, five live cartridges, and two knives from his possession.
According to police, the accused, Ankit, plotted to kill rival gangster Madhesh in the Dwarka Court complex in order to make their Ganga a Supreme in the Shakarpur area of Delhi. They also tried an unsuccessful attempt to kill Madesh in 2020, but he survived and sustained serious gunshot injuries. Based on an intelligence input, the team of special cells and Delhi Police arrested the accused, Ankit, on the road adjacent to Dwarka Court Complex when he came there in his i-10 car. On search, one semi-automatic pistol, one single-shot pistol, five live cartridges, and two sharp-edged knives were recovered from his possession. The accused, Ankit, has a criminal history, and in 2018, he and his associates murdered another criminal, Rakesh, who, along with Madhesh, was involved in the murder of one of their associates, Lucky. He came out on bail in 2020 and tried plotting against Madhav to avenge the murder of their associate.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Special Cell, Ingir Pratap Singh, stated that the investigation is ongoing to apprehend other associates involved in the criminal activities.
