THE BOOK LAUNCH OF THE WINNING CULTURE

In a well-attended function at the UT Guest House, Gen V P Malik, PVSM, AVSM, formally launched the book The Winning Culture – Lessons from the Indian Army to Transform Your Business, authored by Maj Gen Neeraj Bali. The book that makes a case for building a robust corporate culture from the learnings from the battlefield has already become an Amazon bestseller among business books. It is replete with case studies and anecdotes leading to insights about organizational culture. Others who spoke at the event included Vivek Atray, an ex-IAS officer and well-known motivational speaker.
Speaking at the event organized by Chandigarh’s most popular literary group Novel Bunch, Gen V P Malik called it a much-needed and ‘great’ work. ‘In conversation’ with Maj Navdeep Singh, a leading legal luminary, the author recounted a few stories from the army with universally applicable lessons.
During this tete-a-tete, the author explained that what prompted him to write a book on culture was the realization during his time as a corporate professional that many organizations look for answers to transforming culture. Asked about the curiously titled chapter ‘Why Are Officers Dying’, Gen Bali connected it to the critical attribute of leading from the front and protecting those who serve under the leader. He also spoke about the Army’s proficiency in dealing with uncertainties and the power of clarity of processes and ethics in a world riven with ambiguities. The fascinating subject of the role that army families play – including those of the fallen soldiers – stirred many an emotion among the audience. The discussion was replete with stirring case studies and anecdotes from the book that carry life lessons for all.
