The Haryana government, recognizing the crucial role of saints and revered figures in societal development, inaugurated the Sant-Mahapurush Samman and Vichar Prachar-Prasar Yojana. In a recent event held at Purushottampura Bagh in Kurukshetra district, Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal honored over 325 Ramleela committee officials and artists, marking a significant initiative.
In tandem with the commitment to social welfare, the Chief Minister also launched the Teerth Yatra Yojana, specifically tailored for elderly members of economically weaker families in Haryana. This scheme allows individuals aged 60 or above from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families to embark on free pilgrimages to various sacred sites. The Chief Minister formally inaugurated the portal for this scheme, announcing that bookings for a railway coach to Ayodhya have already commenced, with the first pilgrimage scheduled after January 22.
Emphasizing the importance of community engagement, Chief Minister Manohar Lal urged Ram devotees to use their stage to convey messages against substance abuse, urging them to become ambassadors of a drug-free society. He likened this initiative to the successful Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, highlighting the government’s collaborative efforts with social and religious organizations.
The Chief Minister also addressed the government’s strict actions against drug suppliers and those involved in the drug trade. Over the past year, confiscated narcotics exceeding 140 crore rupees have been destroyed, and the properties of 90 individuals engaged in the drug trade have been confiscated, with several perpetrators incarcerated. This multi-faceted approach reflects Haryana’s commitment to social welfare, substance abuse prevention, and the promotion of cultural and religious activities.
