Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi raised alarms over significant irregularities in 12 Delhi University-funded colleges, citing substantial financial discrepancies worth hundreds of crores from public funds. Atishi urged Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to address these concerns, stressing that due to their direct affiliation with DU, these colleges operate without direct accountability to the Delhi government.
To rectify this, Atishi proposed two potential solutions: either integrating these 12 colleges under the purview of the Delhi government or transferring complete administrative control to the Centre. In either scenario, Delhi would halt its financial allocations to these colleges. This bold stance aims to instigate greater transparency and accountability in the utilization of public funds. Despite these assertions, there has been no immediate response from the university, leaving the issue’s resolution pending.
