The Indian Navy is set to demonstrate its operational might with an ‘Operational Demonstration’ at the historic Sindhudurg Fort on December 4, 2023, as part of Navy Day celebrations. Led by Admiral R. Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, the event will feature an array of naval operations, with a spectacular display of 20 warships and 40 aircraft, including the MiG 29K, LCA Navy, and MARCOS.

The event, which commemorates Navy Day and “Operation Trident” during the 1971 War, aims to recognize the valorous efforts of Navy personnel. The demonstration will highlight the capabilities of the Indian Navy’s cutting-edge ships and aircraft to the public and online viewers via live telecasts.

The event, which is being held at the iconic Sindhudurg Fort, which was built in 1660 by Maratha Ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, resonates with India’s rich maritime heritage and highlights the Navy’s operational excellence with frontline assets. Notably, it is the first time such a grand naval event will take place away from major naval bases, emphasizing strategic efforts in collaboration with state and local governments.

Featuring combat beach reconnaissance, assault demos by the Marine Commandos, performances by the Naval Band, and SCC cadets’ displays, the event will culminate in a mesmerizing illumination of ships at anchorage followed by a stunning laser show at the fort.

The celebration, occurring at a location 550 km from Mumbai and 135 km from Goa’s naval station, highlights the Navy’s commitment to community engagement and fostering maritime awareness among citizens, showcasing its pivotal role in safeguarding national security.
