In Haryana, the feud between BJP leader and former Union Minister Birendra Singh and Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala has now extended to the Hisar Lok Sabha seat. JJP’s senior vice-president, Dushyant Chautala, has asserted a claim on the Hisar Lok Sabha seat. After returning from the Rajasthan election campaign, Dushyant Chautala stated, ‘JJP has the right to the Hisar seat. Our candidate will contest from here. Hisar Lok Sabha constituency is my workplace. I myself will contest the assembly elections from the Uchana seat.’ Following Dushyant’s statement, political tensions have escalated. The current holder of the Hisar Lok Sabha seat is Brijendra Singh, son of Birendra Singh, representing the BJP. Notably, Haryana is currently under a coalition government formed by the JJP and BJP
At the same time, Kuldeep Bishnoi, who left Congress and joined BJP, has expressed his desire to contest elections from the Hisar seat. Simultaneously, the former MLA from Narnaund seat and former Finance Minister, Captain Abhimanyu, has also hinted at contesting the Lok Sabha elections in a recent workers’ meeting.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Brijendra Singh defeated JJP’s Dushyant Chautala by about 3 lakh votes from the Hisar seat. Whereas in the 2014 elections, INLD candidate Dushyant Chautala secured victory over Kuldeep Bishnoi by about 32 thousand votes, becoming the youngest MP after the win.
As the next assembly elections approach, former Birendra Singh has started openly discussing the alliance. Prior to the civic elections held last year, Birendra Singh stated that the BJP no longer needs crutches, referring to the JJP.
At the same time, in response to this, Ajay Chautala said that Birendra Singh should not talk like this; he is only a member of the BJP. Following this, the process of Dushyant Chautala and Birendra Singh making statements against each other began. Responding to Birendra Singh’s statements, Dushyant Chautala stated that he will contest the assembly elections from Uchana only.
Currently, a BJP-JJP coalition government is in operation in Haryana. Regarding the Lok Sabha elections, it is not yet clear whether the BJP will contest all 10 Lok Sabha seats alone or there will be seat-sharing with the JJP. However, BJP leaders are claiming to win all 10 seats in Haryana. Simultaneously, Dushyant Chautala has also expressed readiness for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Whether the elections will be fought together or separately will be decided in the meeting.
