Indian Army Strengthens Ties with Sri Lanka, Nepal in Joint Exercises

The Indian Army recently shared insights into ongoing joint training exercises with both the Sri Lankan Army and the Nepal Army, showcasing collaborative efforts to enhance regional security and foster diplomatic relations.

In a post on X, the Indian Army highlighted the joint training activities with the Sri Lankan Army under Exercise Mitra Shaktil. The 12-day exercise, taking place in Pune, aims to rehearse subconventional operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. Both armies are actively participating in training activities, including UN lectures, tactical exercises, and drills to strengthen interoperability in counter-terrorist operations.

Simultaneously, the Indian Army released a video previewing the upcoming Surya Kiran 2023 joint military exercise with the Nepal Army. The exercise, which will take place in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, from November 24 to December 7, aims to improve interoperability in jungle warfare, counter-terrorism operations in mountainous terrain, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief operations.

Exercise Surya Kiran, conducted annually between India and Nepal, aims to evolve combined drills for planning and conducting tactical operations at the unit level. The joint exercises reinforce the commitment of both nations to collaborative defence measures and disaster response mechanisms.

These joint military endeavours reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen defence cooperation, share best practices, and build strong bilateral relations with neighbouring nations, all of which contribute to regional stability and security.
