Haryana witnesses 17% drop in HTET applications

This time, 17% fewer applications were received for the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) compared to last year. There are 53,886 fewer applications this time. Passing the exam is mandatory for the posts of Primary Teacher (PRT), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), and Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) in government schools. The state has received a total of 2,51,831 applications for HTET, scheduled for December 2 and 3, compared to 3,05,717 in 2022.
This time, the highest number of applications, 1,21,460, have been received for Level-2. The applications for PRT (Level-1) and PGT (Level-3) are 54,106 and 76,265, respectively. The deadline for online applications was November 11. In 2022, BSEH received a record number of applications for all three HTET levels, following the state government’s announcement of filling numerous school teacher posts.
This encouragement resulted in a surge in candidates appearing for HTET. In 2021, a total of 1,87,951 applications were received for the three levels. BSEH President Ved Prakash Yadav suggested this might be the reason for fewer applications this time. A BSEH official mentioned that the stringent measures implemented this time to prevent the misuse of submitting multiple forms for one level could be another reason for the decrease in applications this year compared to last year. Some individuals state that they did not apply for HTET this time because they believed that the state government might not be able to fill the vacancies promptly due to the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections.
