In the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections, the BJP is trying to woo the dissidents. The preparations of collector parties for the elections are in full swing. At the same time, efforts are being made to appease those who are upset about not getting tickets. In the midst of this, on Thursday, 9 November, Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, who was contesting as an independent from the Jhotwara Assembly constituency after being upset with the BJP, withdrew his nomination.
In recent days, the difficulties of both the BJP and Congress have increased because of the dissidents. The biggest threat for them is not the opposition parties, but the candidates who have become rebels within their party. The leaders who have not been given tickets by the parties this time are becoming trouble for their own party in this election. It is said that more than 50 dissident candidates are in the field in this election. After Shekhawat’s decision, the BJP managed to control this damage to some extent, as the party succeeded in convincing Rajpal Singh Shekhawat. Behind this, the strategy of BJP’s ‘Chanakya’ Amit Shah is being cited.
The Daily Guardian published a report on Thursday morning (see inset) speculating that the former candidate Rajpal Singh Shekhawat of Jhotwara could withdraw his nomination. The responsibility of convincing dissident Shekhawat was given to former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje by the BJP. It is believed that Rajpal Singh is one of the close associates of Raje.
Anyway, both the BJP and Congress have a long list of dissident leaders. However, the BJP will have to provide an alternative for the prominent leaders. But for now, the matter is being solved through understanding.
While interacting with the media at the Ashok Club, Rajpal Singh Shekhawat said, “It is more important to free the people of the state from the corruption crimes of the Congress than to fight elections.” Regarding Amit Shah’s phone call, Rajpal Singh Shekhawat said that if the phone call of a high-ranking party official is a kind of pressure, then this pressure is right. He said, “It was right for me to contest the election, but it is more important to free the people of the state from the crimes and corruption of the Congress, and for that, I will campaign for the BJP throughout the state.”
