Congress CEC discusses alliance, candidate names

On Monday, the Congress party’s Central Election Committee meeting was held in New Delhi. In this meeting, discussions were held on 105 names. However, it is said that an agreement is being reached on about 60 names. Soon, Congress will release its fourth list. The significant thing is that in this meeting, discussions were also held about forming an alliance. The Congress party is considering contesting elections in alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Dal. In the last election, RLD had contested in alliance with Congress on two seats, where they had won on one seat. However, this time RLD is demanding more seats. In the meeting, detailed discussions were also held about leaving seats for the alliance with the presence of the National President Mallikarjun Kharge, former Congress President Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi.
It is worth noting that in the previous assembly elections, Congress had formed an alliance in the Bharatpur city and Malpura seats. Dr Subhash Garg from Bharatpur city had won and became a minister in the government. However, alliance candidate Ranveer Pehalwan from Malpura was unable to win. However this time, Congress has not fielded candidates for both these seats. It is worth mentioning that Dr Subhash Garg, who won from RLD, is quite close to CM Ashok Gehlot. In such a situation, it is believed that Congress will leave Bharatpur City for the alliance.
RLD has demanded six seats, an agreement may be reached on three.
The National People’s Party has expressed its intention to form an alliance with Congress on six seats this time. This includes Bharatpur city, Nadbai, Malpura, Udaipurwati, and Nagaur assembly seats. Meanwhile, they have also demanded any one seat from Jaipur district- Phulera, Amer, Shahpura, and Chomu. In the past, they had also demanded the Churu seat, but Congress refused it.
Meetings continued throughout the day, CEC in the evening.
In the Congress, marathon meetings were held in New Delhi on Monday. After the meetings of senior leaders throughout the day, in the evening, Congress’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi had discussions on the names of candidates. Although, there are still several seats where a consensus has not been reached. If sources are to be believed, there are doubts over the inclusion of names of Minister Mahesh Joshi, Minister Shanti Dhariwal and Congress leader Dharmendra Rathore in the fourth list of Congress.
BJP’s Core Group meeting will be held in Delhi today
On the other hand, a meeting of the BJP Core Group is called in New Delhi on Tuesday. Some leaders arrived in Delhi late on Monday night. The Core Group meeting can be held at the residence of BJP’s National President JP Nadda or Election In-Charge Pralhad Joshi.
In this meeting, discussions will be held on the final shape of the remaining 76 names. After this, they will be presented before Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in a meeting of the Central Election Committee. Currently, the date of the Central Election Committee has not been finalised.
