Chandigarh: 3 Vehicle Thieves, Including a Scrap Dealer, Arrested

Police have arrested 3 vehicle thieves in connection with vehicle theft cases, recovering 11 stolen vehicles from their possession. Police have arrested 3 vehicle thieves in connection with vehicle theft cases, recovering 11 stolen vehicles from their possession. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajbir Singh alias Raja from Gram-Bhatia Lakhmeerke, Firozpur district, Punjab, Suresh Singh alias Ajay from Gram-Lakhmeerke, Firozpur district, Punjab, and Jagsir Singh from Gram-Kari Kalan, Guruharsahai Tehsil, Firozpur district, Punjab, who is a scrap dealer.
Rajbir Singh alias Raja has a history of criminal activities and has been previously arrested in connection with 3 vehicle theft cases by the Punjab Police. They have been remanded in custody.
During the remand, the accused confessed to being addicts and stealing vehicles to fulfil their addiction. They would steal vehicles and sell them to scrap dealers in the Firozpur region at low prices.
The Crime Branch of Chandigarh, under the leadership of DSP Crime Udaypal Singh and Inspector Ashok Kumar, arrested Rajbir Singh alias Raja and Suresh Singh alias Ajay, along with scrap dealer Jagsir Singh. This led to the resolution of 10 vehicle theft cases, including one from Police Station-39, 8 from Manimajra Police Station, and 1 from Pinjaur Police Station.
Dhruv Bhardwaj from Sector-40C, Chandigarh, had reported a motorcycle theft, and a case was registered at e-Police Station Sector-39 UT, Chandigarh.
The police received confidential information about two drug addicts who were also involved in vehicle thefts. They were residents of Firozpur, Punjab, and were operating in the Maloya area with a focus on vehicle theft.
Acting on this information, the police set up check-posts and apprehended the culprits near Radha Swami Satsang Bhawan in Maloya, recovering stolen vehicles. Both of them were presented before the court and taken into judicial custody.
During the remand, they revealed that they had stolen approximately 10-12 vehicles from various areas in and around Chandigarh. The police recovered 4 Bullet motorcycles, 1 Maruti car, 1 Swift car, 1 Alto car (parts), 1 Honda City car, and a Honda City car’s RC from their possession.
Jagsir Singh, the scrap dealer, had already dismantled the Honda City car. Rajbir Singh and Suresh Singh were habitual addicts and would steal vehicles using master keys to support their addiction. They would arrive in Chandigarh by train and engage in vehicle theft. They did not carry mobile phones with them to avoid being tracked.
The arrest of these three individuals led to the recovery of a total of 11 vehicles, and 9 vehicle theft cases were resolved in Chandigarh. Rajbir Singh alias Raja was remanded in police custody, while the other two, Suresh Singh and Jagir Singh, were placed under judicial custody.
