Eight persons detained over suspicion of involvement in Mastung suicide attack

According to ARY News, which cited sources in the investigation, eight people have been detained on suspicion of aiding in the planning of or participating in a suicide bombing in Mastung’s Balochistan district. Sources claim that when detained suspects exhibit signs of cooperating with law enforcement, more operations are conducted.

An official with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) stated that no information had been received regarding the suicide attacker’s identity. The spokesman added: “Other sources are also being used to determine the identity of the bomber.” No forensic or DNA reports have yet been received, according to a CTD spokesman. In the Saturday suicide bombing in the Mastung district near a 12 Rabiul Awwal procession, at least 59 people were killed. According to ARY News, the FIR was filed on Saturday by the Balochistan Counter-Terrorism Department.

An Eid-Milad-un Nabi (PBUH) procession in the remote Balochistan district of Mastung was targeted by a suicide bomber on Friday, who killed several people, including a police officer, and injured another 100. Three days have passed, but no militant organization has yet to acknowledge responsibility for the bombing. In a statement, the outlawed group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) distanced itself from the bloodshed.
