The election process is in full swing at the Swami Vivekananda Government Model School in Didwana. The distribution of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the deployment of polling parties for the upcoming legislative assembly elections in the newly formed district are being finalized.
The school, located in the district headquarters, Didwana, will store EVMs and Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines for the five assembly constituencies in the district. The school is set to have a holiday for approximately one week due to this. However, this decision has led to protests from the parents of the students.
Yesterday, parents met with District Collector Seetaram Jat and expressed their concerns. District Collector Jat informed the parents about the Election Commission’s guidelines and the election process. He clarified that sudden changes in the Election Commission’s process are not possible. Furthermore, he explained that election-related materials, especially EVMs and VVPAT machines, cannot be stored in an insecure location, nor can they be stored without a secure strong room.
