A domestic cargo unit has made a remarkable start at Terminal 1 in the capital. The Jaipur Domestic Cargo Unit covers an area of 550 square meters. The newly established domestic cargo unit is equipped with ample parking and direct access. Moreover, three trucks are being operated for the convenience of all stakeholders, including 2 for outbound and 1 for inbound cargo.
Starting from August, a monthly capacity of 2300 domestic consignments was introduced, effectively handling 1131 metric tons of cargo. This includes 745 metric tons of outbound cargo and 386 metric tons of inbound cargo.
Jaipur Airport is now bustling with air cargo activities, with the inauguration of the new terminal bringing new categories into outbound cargo, such as mobile phones, valuable goods, live animals, and auto parts.
Modern domestic cargo units, equipped with new technology and business perspectives, have changed the nature of outbound cargo. Alongside traditional and ethnic items, there have been significant changes like outbound cargo with the advent of new technologies and commerce. With the inauguration of the terminal, several cities have been connected at once. In August alone, Jaipur Airport sent 745 metric tons of outbound cargo, including 124.5 metric tons of mobile phones and laptops, 51.5 metric tons of valuable goods including gems and jewellery, 44 metric tons of live animals, and 42 metric tons of auto parts. Along with these items, e-commerce items, human remains, damaged goods, perishable goods, handicrafts, clothes, mail, courier items, and damaged food items were also included in cargo management.
The cargo system has been kept strong in terms of security. Checking and pass booths are operated at the entrance gate, and security agencies are present for 24-hour monitoring. To inspect the items being sent and received through cargo, a 100% baggage inspection system (XBIS machine) and an explosive trace detection device are employed.
The cargo unit at Terminal 1 has prepared a strong room, cold storage, and a hazardous goods storage area so that valuable goods like jewellery, blood samples, medicines, corpses, documents, fruits, vegetables, packed food items, frozen fish, spare parts, clothes, mail, courier items, etc.
