BJP suspends Kailash Meghwal: Election showdown looms

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suspended former Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker and MLA from Shahpura, Kailash Meghwal, from primary membership of the party. The party has accused him of indiscipline.
Meanwhile, during a press conference, Meghwal mentioned that he had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal. Following this, the party took this action. He said, “I have written a letter to PM Modi to remove Arjun Meghwal. Arjun Meghwal has filed a false affidavit with the Election Commission. If cases are filed against him, he could lose his MP seat. I have been expelled from the BJP. However, I will contest elections and defeat the BJP candidate by thousands of votes.” He also stated that he would contest the state assembly elections and defeat the BJP candidate by thousands of votes.
It should be noted that Kailash Meghwal had levelled allegations of corruption against Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on August 27. He had said that he would write a letter to the Prime Minister to remove him from the Union Cabinet. Subsequently, he sent a letter to the Prime Minister, and after that, the party issued a notice to him. He also mentioned that due to corruption allegations, Arjun Ram Meghwal’s promotion had been stalled.
The case has also been registered with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Kailash Meghwal had alleged that Arjun Ram Meghwal had faced multiple corruption charges, from the Industry Department to his tenure as a Collector. He alleged that when Arjun Ram Meghwal was posted as a Collector in Churu, he was accused of wrongly allocating housing board plots under the military widow quota. A complaint was filed in this regard, and the ACB initiated an investigation. The case was investigated twice, but due to pressure, an FIR was not filed, he claimed.
Meghwal also said that there are internal factions within the BJP in Rajasthan. There is an alleged conspiracy to eliminate the former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s camp. He further mentioned that imported leaders are currently gaining prominence in the BJP. He described CP Joshi, the State President, as an outsider brought in by the BJP. Likewise, he referred to the opposition leader, Rajendra Rathore, as an outsider who joined the party from the Janata Party. He emphasized that neither of them has any association with the BJP’s ideology.
He also praised Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, stating that he is doing a good job. Rajasthan is witnessing a politics of brotherhood, and he has good relations with everyone, Meghwal said. There is no one with whom my relations have soured.
