Mamata Banerjee meets Sri Lankan President in Dubai & invites him to business summit in West Bengal

Ranil Wickremesinghe and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met at the Dubai International Airport, where she extended an invitation to him to attend the Kolkata-based Bengal Global Business Summit in 2023. Ranil Wickremesinghe’s interaction with her was described as “pleasant.” Banerjee added that she had received an invitation to travel to Sri Lanka from the country’s president.

In a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, Banerjee stated, “His Excellency The President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe saw me at the Dubai International Airport Lounge and called me to join for some discussion. I have been humbled by his greetings and invited him to the Bengal Global Business Summit 2023 in Kolkata. HE the President of Sri Lanka extended cordial invitation to me to visit Sri Lanka. It was a pleasant interaction with deep implications.”

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the relationship between India and Sri Lanka is noteworthy because it has a history of more than 2,500 years of intellectual, cultural, religious, and linguistic exchange. The relationship between the two countries has recently been characterized by close political contact, expanding trade and investment, cooperation in the development, education, culture, and defense sectors, as well as a deep understanding of the most important global issues. Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, traveled to Madrid, Spain, on Tuesday to take part in a three-day business summit.
