MUMBAI: Senior Inspector Milind Desai of the Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV) police, who was in charge of Navghar police station, faced disciplinary action a week before his retirement. He received a negative report and a Rs 5,000 fine imposed by the commissioner for a dereliction of duty incident dating back to September 25, 2021. The issue revolved around banners and hoardings congratulating ex-MLA Narendra Mehta in violation of a ban by the municipal corporation. Local activist Krishna Gupta’s complaints were initially ignored.
