The Aam Aadmi Party is to file a police complaint against Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, alleging that the latter has disrespected the sentiments of the Hindus by installing 18 ‘Shivaling’ (a representation of Lord Shiva), shaped fountains in the national capital with the purpose of beautifying and decorating ahead of the G20 summit, said the AAP sources on Friday. An AAP MLA is scheduled to meet with the Special CP (Law and Order). Sources added that this meeting is related to numerous social media posts on platform X (formerly known as Twitter) concerning the placement of Shivalings in various locations across the national capital.
The MLA further commented that government officials and agencies carried out this action on the orders of LG Delhi. This action was meant to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and disrespect the beliefs of Sanatan Dharma and Shiva followers. A Shivaling is a sacred symbol for Sanatan Dharm followers, so it should not be an object of decoration. It’s a symbol of devotion, and Hindus pray and worship it.
In an interview, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi said that the Shivalingas installed are not actually Shivalingas; they’re just decorative objects. This statement is completely untrue because the fact is that Shivalingas installed for the purpose of beautification can be recognised as the same without any confusion. It’s important to mention that the Delhi LG has offended the religious feelings of Hindus by instructing the installation of a fountain in the shape of a ‘Shivaling.’
Many AAP leaders have submitted a written complaint to request the filing of an FIR against both the Delhi LG and the officials responsible for this action. They are also asking for a thorough investigation into this issue and appropriate punishment for those responsible.
