Opposition leader Rajendra Rathore comes in support of Dalits

In the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, opposition leader Rajendra Rathore returned to his home in the village of Ranasar, Kuchaman, on Wednesday on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. He spoke at a protest happening outside the police station in opposition to the ruthless murder of two Dalit youths, Chunnilal and Rajuram, by hooligans. Rathore stated that this incident of Dalit oppression is not the first in this region. He said that the Dalit society has been facing atrocities for a while now, including incidents like the Omprakash Regar murder, Pintu Regar murder, Leela Devi Bawri murder, Kishor Meghwal murder, Hanuman Meghwal murder, and Premaram Meghwal murder, among others. The lack of action against the culprits by the police administration has left the Dalit community feeling aggrieved, and today, they feel unsafe.
Rathore emphasized that under the rule of the Congress government, the crime rate in Rajasthan has been on the rise. The entire area is now under the control of various gangs, such as 007-008. Gangsters are demanding protection money. The audacity of these gangsters has reached the point where they threatened the police station in charge and forcibly took away an illegal sand trolley confiscated by the police. There have even been reports of assaults on the police.
Rathore mentioned that the Dalit community, which had voted to bring the Congress to power in Rajasthan, is now bearing the brunt of these atrocities. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, Rajasthan ranks second in Dalit crimes in India. Rajasthan police’s monthly reports for June 2023 show 5415 cases of atrocities against Scheduled Castes, with only 1104 cases filed, leaving the rest unregistered.
