Uttarakhand CM advises weather checks amid heavy rains

In the wake of relentless rainfall causing significant flooding in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has advised residents and Char Dham pilgrims to be wary of the evolving weather conditions.
The CM acknowledged that various regions in the state are submerged due to incessant rains. He highlighted the state’s proactive stance, indicating the activation of disaster control measures. Both SDRF and NDRF personnel are deployed for rescue operations, ensuring no stone remains unturned in the rescue and relief efforts.
“I request all pilgrims to initiate their journey only after acquiring thorough weather information,” urged Dhami.
Earlier this week, Dhami convened an extensive review session with top-ranking government officials, including the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretaries, to discuss the ramifications of the rain-induced calamities. Central to their discussions were compensation arrangements for the affected populace and potential assistance, like heli services, to vulnerable groups like expecting mothers in flood-stricken areas.
Furthermore, Dhami stressed the importance of swift road repair operations, especially in the capital, Dehradun. He also oversaw the status of river water levels, road closures, reported casualties, property damage, and compensation disbursements.
Reiterating his government’s commitment, the Chief Minister affirmed, “We are unwavering in our resolve to safeguard every citizen and ensure they have access to all necessary amenities.”
