Due to the riots in Haryana’s Nuh district, there is still extreme tension in many districts and the police department is in a state of constant churn in a bid to quickly restore peace as well as ensure law and order. But the question which continues to surface is whether or not these riots were pre-planned. Home Minister Anil Vij has in no uncertain terms said that he will ensure that authorities get to the bottom of this matter and focus on how the intelligence failure happened.
According to sources, the state Home Minister is reportedly “quite upset and disappointed” with the Home Secretary TVSN Prasad and the CID Chief Alok Mittal over their functioning during riots in Nuh. The most important revelation, in this case, is that Home Minister Anil Vij did not get first-hand information pertaining from the police or intelligence, but rather, from a private person who was stuck in a temple during riots. Prior to this, the Home Secretary TVSN Prasad while talking to the media on Thursday said that whatever were the inputs on the matter had already been shared with the Peace Committee.
The information shared by Anil Vij revealed that he received a call from a person who was part of a crowd trapped in a temple. Following this, Home Minster Vij directed concerned authorities to take necessary steps, adding that he has been in continuous correspondence with CM Manohar Lal Khattar.
There have been several differences between Home Secretary Prasad and Vij regarding intel and input. Vij later added that the Home Secretary was out of town and “not reachable” in terms of mobile network.
Earlier, Vij had questioned the working style of many IPS and IAS officers. Home Minister Anil Vij has also made it clear that he is not satisfied with the working of CID Chief Alok Mittal. For some time now, this kind of information is coming internally in some form or the other.
