Pakistan Hockey team arrived in India on Monday through the Attari-Wagah border to take part in the upcoming Asian Champions Trophy, scheduled to get underway on Thursday, August 3, and continue till August 12 in Chennai.

This event has been organised annually by the Asian Hockey Federation since 2011. Six top Asian sides participate in this competition in a round-robin format. However, India and Pakistan are the two most successful teams in the tournament’s history.

Muhammad Saqlain, coach of the Pakistan Hockey team, said, “The team has to travel to Chennai to play in the Asian Champions Trophy. He further added that, through sports, we hope to improve our relationship.

He went on to say that through the sports and film industries, our relationship will grow stronger. People from both countries have big hearts and treat their guests well.

The captain of the Pakistan Hockey team, Muhammad Umar Bhutta, said, “Sport is a good thing, it helps to build your relationship with others.

Pakistan lifted this title three times (2012, 2013) and became joint winners with India in 2018.

Several junior players have been included in the Pakistani camp, but it would be a hard nut to crack to beat higher-ranking teams like India, South Korea, and Malaysia.
