Ravi Sinha, a senior member of the Indian Police Service (IPS), was chosen by the Centre on Monday to lead the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) for the upcoming two years.
According to a Ministry of Personnel order, the appointment of Sinha, an IPS officer from Chattisgarh’s 1988 batch, as the next RAW director, received approval from the Cabinet’s Appointments Committee. At the end of his term on June 30, incumbent Samant Kumar Goel, an IPS officer from the Punjab cadre and member of the 1984 batch, will be replaced. Sinha will hold the position of Special Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat (SR), and his tenure will be for two years, or until further orders.
“The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Rajiv Sinha, IPS, special secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, as Secretary, Research and Analysis Wing vice Samant Goel on completion of his tenure on June 30, 2023, for a tenure of two years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” the order stated.
In June 2019, Goel succeeded Anil Dhasmana as the Chief of RAW.
Goel’s contract as RAW chief was extended for another year last year.
