WTC final: Pat Cummins confirms Scott Boland’s inclusion in Australia’s playing XI against India

Scott Boland, the right-arm fast-medium bowler, is certain to be included in place of injured Josh Hazlewood in the Australian playing XI for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against India starting on Wednesday at the Oval in London.

The Australian skipper, Pat Cummins, confirmed that Scott has been preferred over Michael Neser in the final eleven. “We’re big on kind of everyone bowling slightly differently, Scott is a seam bowler on a good length, but he just offers something slightly different to Joshy Hazlewood, and Starcy being a left-hander is a bit different.

Australia have a busy schedule in England after the WTC final, where they will take on England for the prestigious Ashes series starting from 16 June.

The 34-year-old seam bowler has appeared in seven Tests and grabbed 28 wickets. Boland made his debut against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in 2021. His threatening pace may be a key weapon for Australia in the WTC final against India.

However, he failed to take a wicket in the Test match against India in Nagpur ealrier this year. Meanwhile, he expects to have a significant impact on English conditions in the coming months.

Earlier, Cricket Australia had announced Michael Neser as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood, who has been ruled out of the ICC World Test Championship final against India due to injury.
