In the East Jaintia Hills area of Meghalaya on Sunday, police claimed to have arrested a drug dealer and recovered 60 lakh rupees’ worth of illegal substances.
A prominent drug dealer was apprehended and heroin worth Rs 60 lakh was recovered in the Lumshnong region, according to Meghalaya’s DGP, LR Bishnoi. He claimed that the East Jaintia Hills district police squad had started the operation.
The police in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district confiscated drugs worth Rs 32 lakh and detained three drug dealers during the second week of March.

The East Jaintia Hills district police stopped a car in the Ladrymbai area of the district after receiving a tip, according to the Meghalaya police, and found a significant amount of heroin worth Rs 32 lakh inside. The police had also detained three individuals, found Rs 54,000 in cash, three mobile phones, and impounded the automobile.
“A police team of East Jaintia Hills district confiscated 72 kg of cannabis from a car and apprehended two men,” Meghalaya DGP LR Bishnoi had stated.

In a statement earlier in the month, the Border Security Force (BSF) reported that its agents had taken a vehicle carrying processed betel nuts worth Rs 90 lakh from the East Jaintia Hills district’s border.
