JNU student and AISA member Vivek Pandey was allegedly beaten up by multiple ABVP activists in the intervening night between Wednesday and Thursday. The student was taken to the hospital and has been hurt on the right side of his face.

Pandey said that on 3 September around 01:30am, 7-8 goons, many of whom were allegedly ABVP activists, went to the IRAS students’ room in Mahi Mandvi Hostel and started making threats. Most of them were inebriated, drunk and carried alcohol bottles. Soon 6-8 more students joined the group and beat him up.

The ABVP was quick to offer a rebuttal. “It has been brought to our notice that there were some clashes between students last night in a JNU hostel. We don’t know anything about this, but Leftleaning students are raising baseless allegations in order to malign ABVP. None of our students were involved in the case. Let the police and university investigate the matter; if involvement of any ABVP student is even remotely found, we will take our own action against that individual as well,” JNU ABVP president Shivam Chaurasia told The Daily Guardian.
