AC Milan thrashed by Lazio! Napolimiles ahead with 12 point lead

On Tuesday night in Serie A, Lazio destroyed AC Milan 4-0, earning a crucial three points in their quest for a Champions League berth. Lazio’s Biancocelesti ran wild. Losing means Milan have lost their last three Serie A games, dropping them down the standings in what is turning out to be a worrisomely ineffective defence of their first Scudetto in ten years.

On a very challenging night in Rome, they found themselves trailing 1-0 after just four minutes as a result of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s goal and they were unable to recover. Midway through the second half, Luis Alberto scored a penalty to finish the game as a contest. Felipe Anderson was set up by Alberto’s deft ball to score a well-earned fourth goal in the 75th minute.

Napoli has sailed to a sizable lead after three league games without a victory, while Milan is under pressure from four teams for second place. As the battle for the top four intensifies, Lazio is one of three teams trailing them by a single point, while in-form Atalanta is two points further down in sixth. Not only is the way the Rossoneri lost extremely alarming, but it also means Lazio is now only one point behind them in the standings after moving up to third.

In addition to aiming to advance into the Champions League knockout stages, Milan still has a lot of important games to play in the second half of the season and is currently 12 points behind the leagueleading Napoli. In addition to dominating the league, Maurizio Sarri’s team will be confident that they can defeat Juventus in the forthcoming Coppa Italia quarterfinal. Milan, however, is in desperate need of shaking off a terrible run of results that has seen them lose the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super cup to Inter. On February 5, they compete against one another in the Derby della Madonnina
