The wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is going to miss at least 18 months of all cricket, which will be a major loss for India. The kind of the injuries Pant sustained in the December 2022 car accident require a lot of recuperation time, and reports from News18 Cricketnext has information that the stumper may be side-lined off the field for an extended amount of time.

His participation in the IPL this year, the 50-over World Cup, the full World Test Championship cycle, possibly even a WTC Final, half of the World Test Championship cycle in the following year, the IPL 2024, and the T20 World Cup in June of the following year are all likely out due to this.

The 25-year-old is currently receiving treatment at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and will remain there until it is through. Pant had previously been hospitalised at the Max Hospital in Dehradun, at which point the BCCI had flown him to Mumbai for additional care. Pant would continue receiving treatment in Mumbai before moving on to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for the extensive rehabilitation, according to individuals familiar with the situation. Pant’s knee’s ligaments have suffered significant damage, and the stumper has already had two surgeries to address the issue. His knees are under a lot of stress as a wicketkeeper, so it may take him a while to get back to full fitness.
