There has been a wave of new missiles launched from Russia into Ukraine on Saturday and at least 20 people have died in the city of Dnipro. Russia carried out three air raids, 57 missile attacks and 69 attacks from heavy weapon rocket salvo systems, Ukraine’s top military command says.

The strike at Dnipro hit the entrance of a nine-story building turning several floors into rubble. The number of people injured is around 73 including 14 children. Ukrainian officials said. This has been the worst attack in months.

At the scene of the strike, a sizable crowd gathered to see the rescue operation while others joined rescue personnel in their frantic hunt for survivors. Calls for help, human chains of volunteers removing debris, and torch beams penetrating dense clouds of dust and smoke were all present.

Zelensky stated in his speech that debris removal in Dnipro will go on all night long because “We are fighting for every person, every life.” According to authorities, 38 individuals have so far been evacuated from the building, including six children.

Since the apartment complex is some way from the closest power source, it is unclear why it was the target of such destruction. This may have been one of Russia’s less precise missiles or something shot down by Ukraine’s air defences, but on the surface, this seems a less probable explanation on a day when Russia looked bent, once again, on hitting Ukraine’s electricity system.

The most recent Russian strikes on Ukraine’s electrical infrastructure occurred two weeks ago. Regarding the energy infrastructure facilities damaged on Saturday, Zelensky stated that the Kharkiv and Kyiv areas were in the most severe condition.
